30.03.2009 : In Bishkek the editor-in-chief and the correspondent of "the Moscow Komsomol» are plundered and beaten

In capital of Kyrgyzstan at night the editor-in-chief and the correspondent of the Russian newspaper «the Moscow Komsomol - Kyrgyzstan» Ulugbek Babakulov and Elena Ageeva are plundered and beaten, Incident has occurred the day before, on March 25th. According to the representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, approximately at 23.50 journalists left edition of the newspaper located along the street Bokonbaeva-Ibraimova and walked in a southern direction to micro-district #10. Here they were attacked by unknown persons of the Asian type. Being beaten, they took a cellular telephone, 200 soms and a black raincoat. As the press-service informs, E.Ageeva has received bruises and at the moment is at home. U.Babakulov with the closed craniocereberal trauma and a head bruise is in hospital. On the militia versions, the given incident is not connected with professional work of journalists. On the given fact criminal case under item 167 of UKthe criminal code of KR "Robbery" is raised. Investigation is being spent by October area militia, informed in the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

2.Opposition about a meeting on 27th of March.

On March 25th leaders of oppositional «Uniform national movement» (UNM) of Kyrgyzstan held press conference on which have told about a course of preparation for carrying out in all regions of the country the mass protest actions planned for March 27th. We will remind, that this day supporters of opposition intend to gather in all areas and cities of Kyrgyzstan to demand pre-schedule resignation of president Kurmanbek Bakiev. It is expected that actions in country regions will collect from 200 to 500 persons; the most numerous meeting will pass in Bishkek – in the square of M.Gorkiy. The chief of staff BEK- oppositional national movement - Azimbek Beknazarov informed that the authorities at all levels obstruct opposition for carrying out of meetings, as an example is the resulted fact of beating of the supporters in the city of Osh. At today's press conference oppositionists also have noticed that the authorities intimidate drivers of long-distance shuttle buses that they have refused to carry people from regions to Bishkek. The "Ak-Shumkar" party leader Temir Sariev has informed that the invitation to take part in oppositional meeting is sent also to president Kurmanbek Bakiev which resignation is planned to be demanded. Let's remind that the considerable part of today's opponents of authorities in power could unite under the slogan of resignation of president Kurmanbek Bakiev, the "Ak-Shumkar" party leader Temir Sariev, the chief of staff UNM - the former public prosecutor Azimbek Beknazarov, the «Ata Meken»  party leader, the ex-speaker of parliament – Omurbek Tekebaev, the party leader «Uluu Birimdik» - Emilbek Kaptagaev, the ex-Minister of Defense, the secretary general of party “New Kyrgyzstan” Ismail Isakov, the deputy of parliament from Social-democratic party Roza Otunbaeva, the Green party leader Erkin Bulekbaev took part in today's press conference. We will notice that the authorities were really prepared for protest actions. Central squares of the cities of Bishkek and Osh appeared as inaccessible to opposition. In capital on a central square "Ala-Too" reconstruction which will last till the end of August has begun, the area perimeter is blocked by a concrete fence, and on a central square of southern capital - the cities of Osh - from March 24 till March 28th there passes a competition of children's drawings. From authentic sources KCHR receives the information that the authorities strenuously prepare all services so last weeks all city managers have urgently collected all directors of schools and strictly warned, that teachers influenced parents in order no one of them to go the opposition meeting. All who will go will be taken into account and will talk to directors of schools in a raft before clearing from posts. Also employees of commercial structures are strictly warned that in case of an exit to a meeting, all will be documented on video, and austerity measures will be accepted to them.
