Erkin Halikov was given out to Uzbekistan.
Arrested for illegal crossing of state border Erkin Halikov was jodged on March
6 of this year and was in prison #5 in the city of Osh. As informed head of
this establishment Galbai Trapov to radio “Azattyk” on May 14 Halikov was
taken away by employees of militia of Karshy town. The basis for this was the
agreement between offices of public prosecutors of two countries. The
international organization Human Rights Watch considered the extradition of
Halikov as illegal and called Kyrgyz government to regret this step. After
detention Halikov asked for the status of refugee in Kyrgyz committee on
migration.

Kyrgyz prosecutors office on the basis of international agreements given out
Erkin Halikov to Uzbekistan. Emil Amylov head of department of international
relations informed radio “Azattyk” next: Uzbek office of prosecutor to times
addressed to Kyrgyz colleagues with question of extradition of Erkin Halikov,
first time he was arrested and second when he was sentenced. Halikov arrived to
Kyrgyzstan with hope to get a status of refugee on 21 August of 2007, on 6 March
of 2008 he was judged for illegal crossing of state border. As informed his
lawyer Sadykjan Mahmudov, Halikov addressed to Kyrgyz committee on migration
but his application was not satisfied. In opinion of the employee of
prosecutors office, Halikov asked for the status of refugee after prosecutors
office agreed to give him out.
