18.06.2008 : Kyrgyzstan: In Bishkek participants of the action «grant 1 som to the state for elderly people» are detained

June 16,  in Bishkek participants of the action « grant 1 som to the state for
elderly people». The action was initiated by a network «AgeNet - the Central
Asia without Borders », Female Debate Club and public association « Social
protection of the Population ». The purpose of the action as it has been
declared earlier - attraction of attention of the state structures to a
distress of old men in conditions of sharp increase of the prices for food
stuffs, municipal services and transport.
The given action has begun today in the morning in ten different places of
Bishkek near various state structures.
Employees of the May Day regional police station have detained more than ten
participants of the action.
Now in Bishkek works  the decision of city council of deputies about restriction
of places of carrying out of meetings and actions. It is authorized to hold a
meeting only in three places of city. Recently the parliament,where the
majority is a from propresidential party passed the law  limiting freedom of
meetings, except for it, in Bishkek works anticonstitutional decision.
