01.12.2008 : Kyrgyzstan says "NO" to the Uzbek refugees
– From the middle of 15th of December ten Uzbek refugees, temporarily living in Kyrgyzstan, can lose the status of the person of a searching refuge under the decision of the Kyrgyz state committee on migration and employment. As refugees from Uzbekistan inform, refuges being in searches in Kyrgyzstan, the State committee on migration and employment of this country has made decision to suspend action of the certificates certifying their status of the person searching refuge and granting it the right to residing in Kyrgyzstan from December 15th. In what acceptance of such decision Uzbek refugees and legal experts is connected do not know. They only suspect that Kyrgyzstan could be forced to it by Uzbekistan at the bilateral meetings which have taken place in recent time, and also within the limits of the international organizations, members which both countries are. The representative of the State committee on migration and employment of Kyrgyzstan has answered today's inquiry of legal experts with flat refusal to make comments on this news. Having told that the committee does not give the information by phone and it is necessary to make the letter of inquiry in the organization, and then to arrive for reception of the information and other explanations on this point in question. Approximately refugees from Uzbekistan already faced the same situation in August of this year when the committee on migration and employment of Kyrgyzstan has refused to prolong the certificate of the person of a searching refuge, that who was in their country more than a year. Motivating the decision that year was quite enough to achieve resettlement in the third, safe country. And if someone did not manage to receive the status of the refugee from the United Nations and to move to other country, its case not such serious means, and to his life threatens nothing. But, having faced protests of refugees and human rights organizations in Kyrgyzstan, the committee has decided to prolong certificates to Uzbek refugees for some months. But, as it has appeared, not for a long time, all to the middle of December. They promise to help refugees and employees of the United Nations in Bishkek, but, by words of uzbek people, these promises do not help to solve their problem.
