Police detained in the center of Bishkek on 10 November eight participants of the action "Say NO to Dictator!"
After several hours of detention at the police department, the same day, a trial against them began at the Pervomai District Court of Bishkek, which was soon postponed until 13 November due to lack of evidences.
Organizer of the action, Maksim Kuleshov, head of the Human Rights Resource Center in the town of Tokmok, said they sent a notification on the action to the Bishkek City Administration on 1 November.
The action aimed to protest usurpation of the power by a single person, as well as strengthening democratic practice and getting over the apathy and passive mood among the Kyrgyz society, which could allow returning totalitarianism. According to Kuleshov, the constitutional referendum, held by the Kyrgyz authorities on 21 October, became an evidence of such a grim tendency.
Members of the youth wing of the Greens and Kalybek Akunov, the brother of Bektemir Akunov, who was beaten severely at the Naryn City Police Department and died last April, took part in the action.
