Chairman of the Society of human rights of Uzbekistan Talib Yakubov was gone

As it became known to IA "Fergana.ru", chairman of the Society of human rights of Uzbekistan (SHRU) Talib Yakubov has completely disappeared. About it to agency informed one of active workers of SHRU, the head of a society in Dzhizak area Bahtier Hamraev.

On July, 15 this year Talib Yakubov should be in a city department of militia of Dzhizak for evidence within the framework of criminal case where Yakubov passed as accused. By words of Bahtier Hamraev, the reasons of disappearance of Yakubov, and possible place of his presence are unknown.

For occurrence of such hearings there is a reason. In conversation with correspondent of IA "Fergana.ru" Talib Yakubov informed on 14 July, that one of employees of law enforcement bodies of Uzbekistan has openly declared him, that prior to the beginning of October of this year all employees of SHRU will be in prison. Yakubov has noted, that safety of supporters causes in him alarm.

By words of Bahtier Hamraev, authorities have begun campaign against SHRU. From the middle of summer 2005 ten active workers of SHRU have been sent for a lattice. And, according to human rights defenders, the fault of any of them was not proved.

The society of human rights of Uzbekistan is one of the largest associations of human rights defenders in the country. "The society of human rights in Uzbekistan", created in 1992, is totaled in the numbers several hundreds of employees. Members of SHRU led by the chairman T.Jakubov, first have started to carry out picketing of state institutions. This society one of the first has declared application of tortures in prisons of Uzbekistan.
