Following the initiative of the chairman of the Kyrgyz Committee for Human rights R.Dyryldaev, chairman of the Commission for Human Rights Tursunbek Akun, expert of the Commission for Human Rights, vice president of the US Uighur Association Omer Kanat, and director of the human rights organization “Democracy” Tursun Islam visited Ubli Kasym (a.k.a. Kassarjy), whose nationality is Uighur, and who is currently incarcerated in colony No. 47 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The visit was organized in response to Ubli Kasym’s relatives, who pleaded and requested the visit. During the visit, both Ubli Kasym and officers of the colony confirmed that he in fact is on a deathbed as a result of blood cancer, which he developed during his incarceration. Tursunbek Akun assured the Committee that he would petition a pardon for Ubli Kasym.
