Already more than 10-days is holding hunger-strike Rustam Valiahmetov. He is accused of murder of several people, and on January 28, 2005 has been sentenced by a verdict of Sverdlovsk regional court in Bishkek to a death penalty with confiscation of property.
In the opinion of lawyer Valiahmetov, Yana Galiulina, in business of her client there are no proofs which would testify to fulfilment of Valiahmetov crimes incriminated to him as which he does not recognize.
« And those materials of an affair which, in opinion of accusation, testify against my clients, are not proofs, for they are received with infringements of the Criminal - remedial Code and consequently according to Constitution the Kirghiz Republic, these materials should be recognized nonexistent and the reference to them in court is inadmissible », - the lawyer has written a complaint in the appeal.
"Condemned man" asks, that he should be visited and have been heard: Ombudsman of Kirghiz Republic Tursunbai Bakir uulu; Chairman of the Commission of Human Rights under the President of KR Tursunbek Akun; the Representative of the State Office of Public Prosecutor; the Representative of parliament of republic; the Representative of the Constitutional court of the country.
Journalists of « Voices of freedom » in 2004 have lead a journalistic investigation about tortures in law-enforcement bodies. Then they managed to receive videorecording of a recognition of one of the witnesses appearing in criminal case of Valiahmetov - Margarita Svjatenko.
