2005 Elections in Kyrgyzstan "We are ready to stand, go, starve" Yesterday evening, on January 7 the Committee for the protection of Roza Otunbaeva, candidate to the parliament in Universiteskyi district #1 was formed, they are protecting her because her registration was rejected due to the pressure from above. Today at 9 am in front of Jogorku Kenesh of KR (parliament) building military tents were put. The action of protest organized by "Ata-Jurt" movement started, the action is headed by Roza Otunbaeva who was joined by representatives of all five political movements, who signed the Memorandum on mutual understanding and cooperation during the period of up coming elections to the parliament. The day before the coordinating board was formed, the board stated that violations of pre-election process by authorities have already started. And according to paragraph 7 of Memorandum on conducting joint political actions in the frameworks of the Constitution, they started the action. People started joining the action. Deputies of the acting parliament also joined the action - A. Madumarov, O. Tekebaev, B. Sherniyazov, D. Chotonov, A. Sultanov, I. Masaliev and many others. More than 200 people. Political rally started. Everyone who wanted to say something had an opportunity to do so. Militia didn't surround old square, however militia was standing in the corners. Deputy prosecutor of the city was there too. However, several cars drove insensibly from which members of militia, and with them warrior looking guys surrounded people who were conducting the action and took away all tents. We can't say that this was happened unexpectedly, however no one thought they would do everything so fast. And then protestors decided to move to the "White House" shouting: "Akaev should leave, Tanaev should leave, Imanbaev should leave". When they were walking through "Ala-Too" square where despite rain there was a lot of people they started shouting: "People wake up and join us!". In the mean time militia was escorting protesting crowd of 150 people. The procession ended at Chuiskyi prospect and Sovetskaya street, then turned to Abdumamunova street and came back to Old square. Tomorrow the meeting will continue.
