Students are being forced to gather signatures in support for Bermet Akaeva's nomination.

Rector of the University Kakeev in order to please the acting president of the country forced to organize a group called "Initiative group of students of Kyrgyz National University named after J. Balasagyn". They are being forced to make an initiative in support for Bermet Akaeva's nomination for elections to Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament) representing Universitetskyi district #1. Analogical activity is taking place in other higher educational institutions of the republic. This way students of the following universities participated in gathering signatures in support for Bermet Akaeva's nomination: Kyrgyz National University, Bishkek Humanities University, Kyrgyz Russian Slavonic University, Kyrgyz State University of Construction, Agrarian academy, Law academy and many other.

On January 12, 2005 in Kyrgyz National University named after J. Balasagyn the meeting with Bermet Akaeva will be held, during which founded initiative youth group will formally express their desire (for her to be nominated) and will pass her all collected signatures. Students justify their decision to ask B. Akaeva to run for parliamentarian elections by stating that there are around 30 thousand students studying at KNU and their university is a leader of Kyrgyz education. Such laurels are appearing due to pressure and dictation of President's administration.
It should be noted that Bermet Akaeva before never worked in a single educational institution and students don't know her, therefore it is clear that signatures in support of her are being collected under pressure.
The source that provided this information asked not to call his name due to the fear of repressions, however the same information is also available through mass media.
