Another member of Hizb-ut-Tahrir was senetenced to 2.5 years of imprisonment for holding arms Bazar-Korgon District Court of Jalal-Abad province sentenced on January 2, 2003, Toktorbay Tohtakulov, 51, a member of banned Hizb-ut-Tahrir party, to 2 years and six months of imprisonment. As provinvial departments of interior reported, Mr. Tohtakulov, a resident of Arstanbap, was charged with illegal holding of amunition and explosives in accordance with articales 241.1 of the Criminal Court of the Kyrgyz Republic. According to other sources, the amunition and explosives were put by the special forces. Those who study the party and its activities, know that Hizb-ut-Tahrir is a non-violent organization, but authorities of Kyrgyzstan are attempting to present Hizb-ut-Tahrir as a threat to the security of the country and a violent extremist organizations and continues to persecute its members.
