A governor Tokon Shailieva puts pressure on independent candidates.

Evidence is provided in a tape recording. On February 11, in the morning Ryskulova Burulsun, candidate in an election district #72 (Karakol city) was called to a conversation with a governor of the Issyk Kul oblast Tokon Shailieva. During the conversation governor made an ultimatum and demanded from Ryskulava to cancel her candidacy.

Shailieva said, that a woman candidate, chair of the oblast education department Kenderbaeva from the party “Alga, Kyrgyzstan” is enough for one district. The
conversation was recorded on a tape recorder and was given to the Issyk Kul oblast prosecutor’s office on February 11.

As the long term observers of the Coalition “For democracy and civil society” informed, supporters of Ryskulova B. demand just investigation and taking
strict measures concerning Shailieva, even perhaps a measure of removing her from office, as it was promised by the president A. Akayev and the chair of his
administration regarding the authorities intervening the elections process. Otherwise, they are willing to start picket.

Candidates made an appeal statement to the Central elections commission

Candidates to the deputies Bolot Baikojoev, Erkinbek Alymbekov, Burulsun Ryskulova signed the appeal statement. According to their information, Tokon Shailieva a governor of the Issyk Kol oblast demanded from candidate Burulsun Ryskulova to “cancer her candidacy, and give chance to her opponent Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva”. After such pressure the health condition of Ryskulova worsened and she had to call the first aid. Candidates sent this appeal to the Central prosecutor’s office and to the Central elections commission.
